3rd Congress of Minimally Invasive Surgery

3rd Congress of Minimally Invasive Surgery

Lublin Conference Centre
22-24 September 2022

Invitation

Dear Colleagues,

The III International Congress of Minimally Invasive Surgery is approaching fast. Between September 22nd and 24th, 2022 Lublin will have the occasion, again, to host world class experts in technologically advanced minimally invasive surgery. This already becomes a rule that we meet in Lublin - a beautiful city, symbolically located at the border of tradition of many cultures.

We have the honour of inviting you, in the name of the Organizational and Scientific Committee of the III International Congress of Minimally Invasive Surgery, to actively participate in this event, which grew so important for our community. The scientific agenda will, already traditionally, include sessions covering various areas of minimally invasive surgery, and in particular in the field of gastrointestinal diseases, development of new simulation methods for postgraduate training of residents, implementation of new surgical methods and medical technologies in both in general surgery, and practically in all surgical disciplines, the perspectives of robot surgery and interdisciplinary international cooperation. The Congress will host group of outstanding surgeons, representing well known centres of minimally invasive surgery from both Poland and abroad.

Many of you, remembering the previous, warmly welcomed editions of the Congress, the high scientific level of its sessions, must already be eagerly awaiting the possibility of direct participation in scientific meetings. Unfortunately we are unable to tell, at least at this moment, what the final form of this year’s meeting will be. The subsequent waves of the COVID-19 pandemic render all plans uncertain. What we consider, apart from stationary sessions, is also the format of hybrid panels, conducted in part, or completely online. This does not alter the fact that, as its Organizers, we will make every effort to make the III International Congress of Minimally Invasive Surgery meet your expectations concerning familiarization with current achievements in the field of minimally invasive surgery, provide you with the opportunity to exchange opinions with experts and participate in social events.

Feel free to join us in Lublin!

Sincerely yours

.

Chairman of the of the Scientific and Organizational Committee

Professor  Grzegorz Wallner
National Consultant in the field of General Surgery
Professor Wojciech Kielan
President of the Association of Polish Surgeons

Prof. Michał Pędziwiatr, MD, PhD, Jagiellonian University, University Hospital, Department of Surgery, Krakow

The Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) programme is an approach to the perioperative care of colorectal patients which aims to improve outcomes and speed up recovery after surgery. ERAS protocols have been developed to reduce physiological stress and postoperative organ dysfunction. Typically, such protocols include a laparoscopic approach for the colorectal resection. Compared with open surgery, laparoscopic colorectal surgery has been shown to have equal oncologic effects and better data on favourable short-term results of laparoscopic surgery as it reduces surgical trauma and produces a minimal postoperative systemic immune response.

Although the evidence base appears strong for both, ERAS programme and laparoscopic approach, the penetration of laparoscopic colorectal surgery has been low and implementation of ERAS slow. During the ETHICON Symposia, experts in Lap-CR surgery with extensive experience in ERAS will discuss the reasons and possible solutions to the unsatisfactory state of affairs, and whether the professional society should strive to accelerate Lap penetration or rather to expand ERAS. Or both at the same time? Come and discuss with them.

360 Innovation Room Johnson & Johnson MEDTECH
Level S5, exhibition

We invite you in breaks between sessions to the Innovation Room for inspiring meetings with specialists and invited guests.

At present, apart from the surgery itself, more and more often attention is paid to the effectiveness and optimization of the entire process of treating patients, starting with their education, preparation for the procedure and the process of postoperative rehabilitation. Developing surgical skills to provide the best possible care is essential as patient outcomes are multifactorial.

By visiting the Innovation Room, you will be able to see the latest reports related to technologies reducing the likelihood of anastomotic leakage, reduction of surgical site infections, digital solutions in the preoperative, perioperative and post-productive periods, and the #wNOWYMkształcie campaign for patients.
